“La grotto dell’arte leggendario Thawan Duchanee”

Art has been a universal language since the dawn of humanity, from the first rock paintings on cave walls. It is an intrinsic part of our DNA, sometimes lying dormant for millennia. This exhibition is inspired by the moniker “Nai Khon Phukhao” (Man of the Hills), bestowed upon the late artist Thawan Duchanee by Professor Silpa Bhirasri, the Father of Thai Contemporary Art. Since then, Thawan has been known by this title, embodying the spirit of an artist deeply connected to nature and tradition.
The exhibition commemorates the 10th anniversary of Thawan Duchanee Day on 27 September 2024 and celebrates 12 years of his creative partnership with Siam Piwat Group, a leader in arts, culture, creativity, innovation, and technology. The exhibition also serves as a charity fundraiser, with proceeds from the sale of artworks and art memorabilia to support flood victims across Thailand.
This exhibition marks the debut of Thawan Duchanee’s art grotto, a concept created by the visionary artist who founded the iconic Baan Dam Museum. Often referred to as “The Emperor of the Canvas,” Thawan Duchanee used the sky as his canvas and the world as his stage, leaving behind a legacy that resonates globally with his artistic masterpieces.
Titled “La Grotta Dell’Arte Leggendario Thawan Duchanee” the exhibition headlines the Thailand Arts & Culture Expo 2025, an event designed to place Thailand on the map as one of Asia’s premier art destinations.  The exhibition opened until 31 October 2024 at Siam Paragon, one of Bangkok’s leading retail and art centres, located on the 5th floor.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. Doytibet Duchanee, CEO & Founder of Art Investment Center, and Ms. Mayuree Chaipromprasith, President – Corporate Affairs and Communications, Siam Piwat Co. Ltd. They were joined by key partners from the public and private sectors, including the Ministry of Culture, the Department of Cultural Promotion, the Department of Intellectual Property, the Office of Contemporary Arts and Culture, as well as Baan Dam Museum, Art Investment Center, honoured guests, and members of the media.
